About Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy can serve many purposes. I view the process as a supportive space that can help you learn more about yourself and move closer to your goals, whatever those may be. My belief is that growth is facilitated by both the conversations you have with your therapist as well as your experimentation with different ways of responding to the challenges you encounter in life.

 

My approach to psychotherapy

The relationship between client and therapist is the strongest predictor of a positive outcome in psychotherapy, and this is the highest priority in my work. While I may have expertise regarding mental health in general, you are the expert when it comes to your own life. Support and collaboration are the foundation upon which we would work to bring you closer to where you want to be.

 

In addition to prioritizing a supportive and collaborative therapeutic relationship, my work is informed by extensive training in insight-oriented, cognitive-behavioral, and mindfulness-based approaches to psychotherapy. These approaches emphasize developing self-awareness, understanding the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behavior, and making effective choices that are aligned with one’s goals.

 

I bring passion, curiosity, and dedication to my work. In return, I ask that my clients bring openness, honesty, and the willingness to challenge themselves. While some ambivalence about psychotherapy is normal, a strong commitment will maximize the likelihood that you get a good return on the time, energy, and money you invest in the process.
